Pay-what-you-feel stalls popping up in Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest Food Rescue are running pop-up ‘pay-what-you-feel’ food stalls around the borough to highlight the fact that food is often thrown away while it is still good enough to eat.

  • Every Monday, 12:00 – 15:00 out the the Hornbeam (weather permitting)
  • Every Tuesday. 14:30 – 17:30 at Friday Hill Tenants Management Organisation offices, Chingford Hatch  E4 6JT.
  • First Saturday of the Month, 11.00-15.00 at the Transition Leytonstone Market outside Matalan, Leytonstone High Road, E11 1HH.
  • NEW POP-UP: Every saturday in May at Walthamstow Town Square, near the library, 9.00-15.30

Visit to Hawkwood – Organiclea’s Growing Site

Wed 11 Jan: Group visit to Hawkwood, Organiclea’s growing site in Chingford.

Meet at the Hornbeam at 10.30am and we will travel together by bus to Hawkwood.

Community Mondays in January

All are welcome to Community Mondays

Weekly drop-in opportunity to help out or skill-up at the Hornbeam. Volunteers help maintain the space together, pick up some skills and have a free lunch too. Every Monday, 11am -2pm.

Jamming happens every week with Organiclea upstairs at the Hornbeam from 10am-1pm. To be a jamming volunteer please contact volunteering@hornbeam.org.uk to book a place

Drop in any Monday between 10am and 2pm to find out more about our range of volunteering opportunities that happen each Monday. Everyone welcome.

Mon 9 Jan, People’s Kitchen, 10am-2pm. The first Community Monday of every month is People’s Kitchen – delicious lunch made from food that would have been wasted.

Food is served at 1pm. Everyone welcome so come and share your lunch with others who live and work locally. Do tell your neighbours or colleagues. To volunteer please contact Carolyn at volunteering@hornbeam.org.uk.

Mon 30 Jan – Admin/DIY and Toilet Makeover! 9.30-1.30
Please join us for the tasks that keep this building ticking over and remaining an amazing resource for so many groups in the community.

The upstairs toilet needs some serious TLC! Mirrors, hooks, grout cleaner, and a plumber that’s handy with cisterns. Last Monday of every month, come at 9.30am, lunch at 1.30pm.

NOTE

Stay, Play and Protest is NOT on in January, but will start again on Mon 6 February 1.30-2.30pm
Stay, play & protest is a new type of parenting group. It’s an informal drop-in for parents and their children with a twist – talking about things that make our lives difficult and how as a group we can make them better. Contact Esther

As part of the Hornbeam’s Community Mondays, Kids Kitchen will be on the third Monday of every month. Join us with your little-ins –  prepare and eat fresh healthy food with while singing songs, playing and washing up.

Kids Kitchen is a collective of Parents and Vegan Chefs who want to share food with young children. Creating spaces for Kids and parents to get stuck in and explore cooking, local, organic, fun food with out having to worry how much mess they are making!

If you have a child or children under 5 come to Kids’ Kitchen, or tell your friends who do to, and cook a fun, healthy lunch while exploring, enjoying and learning about food.

10am-12pm at the Hornbeam Cafe.
£4 (£2 concessions) – includes lunch for your child.
