Is Big Oil facing the final curtain? Art, oil and creative action
Hornbeam, Thursday 26th May. Doors open 6.30, Film at 7pm. Share the Facebook event and let us know you’re coming, email volunteering@hornbeam.org.uk to help out
May’s film night features a very special guest – Danny Chivers – ace performance poet, great writer and very active in Art not Oil actions.
In the last two months, the Tate art galleries and the Edinburgh Festival have both ended their sponsorship deals with the oil company BP. This follows six years of creative activism from artists, performers and campaigners for fossil-free culture, including Shakespearean stage invasions, rebel art installations, disobedient choirs, surprise tattooists, guerrilla festivals, a pop-up Viking longship and a LOT of molasses.
Come and see how this dramatic story has unfolded, with a night of short films and real-life stories of creative activism and performance protest, curated by the Art Not Oil coalition.
And there’s free pizza!
Film starts at 7pm
