Pumpkin Rescue Pop-Up was a great success in 2015:
Our Pumpkin themed pop-up last year was part of the skill-up project, and also one of a number of themed pop-ups across London…. So we were part of a saving of 2,8 tonnes of pumpkin waste!
“The Hornbeam Café in Waltham Forest challenged their volunteers to run the event and plan a food waste menu, the décor, publicity etc. “They all have a keen interest in food but hadn’t cooked together, or for that quantity of people before.” Said Rebecca the event organiser.
We “Loved the chance to try new things and gain experience… loved the autonomy we had in the kitchen…” said one of the volunteers. Their feedback indicated that the event provided a great opportunity for personal development as well as culinary experience for the Hornbeam volunteers.”
