The Hornbeam has formed an exciting new partnership with Norman Loves aka the fabulous local chefs, Jenny and Kate who will be working with Organiclea to serve up delicious, sustainable and affordable food. Heralding the beginning of an amazing new era for the cafe, which is celebrating its 20th birthday.

The Hornbeam Centre and local chefs Norman Loves are forming a new partnership to run the Hornbeam Cafe and it’s going to be amazing!
We are looking for volunteers to help with painting, cleaning, reorganising and cooking ahead of the launch party (on Saturday 3rd May).
So come along 10am – 1pm on Monday 28th April, Thursday 1st May or Friday 2nd May – and you’ll get a great lunch afterwards. Come prepared with working clothes and excitement to be part of creating a fresh new space!

Norman Loves have received two ‘Highly Commended’ at The Sustainable City Awards for the fabulous work they have been doing in the Hornbeam cafe and their catering business.
Firstly a ‘Highly Commended’ award for Waste Management for their use of composting and recycling and second a ‘Highly Commended’ award for Sustainable Food!

The Hornbeam is currently recruiting a coordinator for our thriving community café, which provides low cost healthy vegan food in an accessible community space, with volunteer and training opportunities.
We are looking for someone who can support and enthuse volunteers in front of house roles to create a friendly welcoming vibe whilst also adhering to high delivery standards. As well as coordinating front of house, you will be responsible for developing the café as a work experience/training programme which the café can provide.
You will also work alongside the kitchen team and other Hornbeam staff to develop events and evening openings in the café, organise promotional materials and activities, and collectively ensure the café’s long-term sustainability.
This role is a flexitime position for 21 hours per week (ideally spread over 4 days), and has a salary of £11.50 per hour (£20,930 pa pro rata).
