Thursday 29th October, Hornbeam Cafe, doors open at 6:30pm
This month, to keep momentum up after UK Food Sovereignty Gathering we are showing the Jakarta Call: La Vía Campesina. This documentary is an introduction to the international peasant movement with over 200 million members across the world. Discover and learn about how peasant organisations from all around the world use food sovereignty, agro-ecology, social and climate justice, solidarity, seeds, water, struggles by women, youth, indigenous and migrants, to create agrarian reform. We hope also to be joined by Janie Boyd, over from Nicaragua where she runs social enterprises supporting community development, including a kitchen gardens project. A chance to hear about the similarities with our own edge-of-the-city growing projects… solidarity in action! Tortillas and beans and other Nicaraguan snacks will be available! Along with free organic popcorn, good chat and a lively pub visit afterwards.
To help out with food on the night – ESPECIALLY if you’re great at making corn tortillas – please email Rebecca on firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
