Job opportunity: Community Engagement Worker

The Hornbeam Centre is seeking to appoint a part time Community Engagement Worker who will be responsible for the strategic development, and day to day management, of the Low Cost Living Project.

The Hornbeam Centre is a community environmental centre with a café and meeting room space. It provides a hub for local food and environmental education projects, and a space for people to find out what’s going on locally and how to get involved.

Hornbeam’s Low Cost Living Project aims to

  • reduce the impact of Waltham Forest’s residents on the environment
  • reduce household expenditure,
  • engage communities in environmental awareness, and
  • increase environmental volunteering and improve health and wellbeing through environmental activities.

A project key aim is to engage sections of the community that have not traditionally been active in the environmental movement.  The successful applicant will be working with Hornbeam partners to deliver a programme of workshops, events and skills share activities that help residents reduce household expenditure and their impact on the environment. The Community Engagement Worker is a flexitime position for 17 hours per week, and has a salary of £11.50 per hour. Click here for the job description for this role.
