NEW!! E-newsletter and Listings Volunteer

Are you passionate about supporting local green projects? Do you love connecting people and spreading the word about events and campaigns? The Hornbeam is looking for a new volunteer to take on it’s e-newsletter and listings.

Help us develop our Green Adventures project which captures the details of green events across Waltham Forest and promotes them via our website and monthly What’s On e-newsletter. This role involves gathering these details, maintaining a 1,000 strong mailing list, sending out monthly e-newsletters and updating our website with new events.

We’re looking for someone with very good written word skills and confidence using email and online communications. You’ll be updating our WordPress site and using Mailchimp, so a familiarity with those would be useful but not essential.  You’ll receive training and the opportunity to expand your online communications skills. You can work from home or come into the Hornbeam office if you prefer, but you need to be motivated and comfortable working on your own initiative as well as part of a wider comms team.

You can find the full role description here.

A 12 week programme for 18-30 year olds who want to gain work experience: in return for your help operating our warehouse and paint shop we will provide structured support to help you identify and make progress towards your own employment and training goals. As a participant, you will also help us prepare and deliver a small project (possibly using our paint in your own community).

Warehouse Volunteer (The Paint Place Warehouse)

We always need help sorting and mixing the reclaimed paint that we collect for redistribution. Warehouse volunteers play a crucial role in keeping an affordable supply of environmentally sustainable paint flowing out of FRP into the wider community. If you are prepared for physical work that can get a bit messy, this could be just for you.

Retail Volunteer (The Paint Place Shop, FRP Centre)

Our paint shop at the FRP centre is where we trade to the general public. Let us know if you are up for helping us to sell thousands of litres of paint!

Events Volunteer (Give-or-Take)

FRP organise community waste exchange events, where people can leave items that they no longer need and collect things for which they have a use free of charge. Volunteers help with many aspects of these events from engaging with members of the public and staffing the stalls to giving our driver a hand with deliveries. This role particularly suits busy people who cannot commit to volunteering every week.
When: Flexible, when events are taking place, mostly on Saturdays
Where: On location, mainly in North East London
Commitment: Flexible, as and when required and you are available.
