Saturday market stall

Every Saturday come rain or shine, you can buy fresh organic produce on this Hoe St/Bakers Avenue corner. The market stall is open on Saturdays from 10am-3pm. The produce is supplied by farmers from East Anglia and their cooperative partners in Europe. All their produce is certified organic. We also sell fresh ultra-local produce harvested in the Borough less than 24 hours before you buy it! And locally baked bread, jams, honey and pickles when available. The stall aims to:

• Offer all in the Borough an opportunity to access fresh, organic produce.
• Re-educate ourselves, and our community in the ways of "seasonal" produce; its health, social, economic and environmental benefits.
• Create a modest livelihood for those involved in working the stall.
• Provide an outlet for ultra-local (Northeast London) growers and producers of pickles, bread or jam, so they can share their surplus with this community.
• London feeding itself! If you’ve got surplus produce you’d be interested in selling, get in touch.
• Support small-scale organic farmers in East Anglia for better and fairer distribution of their organic produce.
• Run a stall to by-pass the big supermarkets whose core business does not respect the rights of farmers, workers, communities and consumers.
• Encourage less plastic in shopping.
• Create a buzzing space, where buying fresh produce is an enjoyable activity and where information about food can be freely shared.

Like most small adventures, our existence remains forever fragile. We rely on those who use us to spread the word to friends, neighbours, work-mates and family.
